We’re a global offshore geoscience and geotechnical engineering consultancy specialising in marine geophysics and geotechnics, foundation engineering, pipelines, trenching and numerical analyses. We work primarily in the offshore oil and gas, and renewable energy industry for clients who design, install and operate offshore, nearshore and onshore facilities.

The industry is booming, and as a result, we’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer, Structural Engineer or Naval Architect starting in the offshore industry to join our young team in Newcastle as a project engineer! The successful applicant will work along-side existing senior offshore engineering staff and other junior colleagues to deliver consultancy services for offshore energy projects. Typical tasks will involve submarine structure assessments (mainly cables and pipelines), software modelling (including the use of orcaflex, programming codes etc), report writing, research and implementation of new and standard methods and a whole load of braincell power and common sense!

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture. He/She will ideally have offshore experience but this is not necessary for graduates or junior staff starting in the renewable energy market.

  7. Have relevant offshore experience (when applicable)

Required:

  • Knowledge of structural mechanics
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to write technical reports in a concise and logical format
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to think independently and solve problems with innovative solutions
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks
  • Passion for engineering and the renewable energy market

Nice to haves:

  • Offshore engineering experience
  • Knowledge of DNV codes
  • Experience using OrcaFlex
  • Experience using MathCAD
  • Experience using Python
