Cathie authors MSIR for 2.4GW offshore wind project approved to be reviewed by BOEM

Cathie is pleased to share good news regarding client Equinor’s, Beacon Wind 2.4 GW offshore wind project. At the end of June, BOEM published a Notice of Intention (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Construction and Operations Plan (COP) submitted by Beacon Wind.

The Marine Site Investigation Report (MSIR), authored by Cathie, was deemed sufficient to support this review process.

The Lease Area is south of Nantucket, Massachusetts and east of Montauk, New York.  Beacon Wind 1 is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power over one million New York homes and drive economic development in the region. Additionally, Beacon Wind 2 has the potential to power over a million additional homes in the US, once contracted.

Diane Baxter, US Engineering Manager at Cathie, commented, “The NOI marks a significant milestone for the Beacon Wind project, and we’re extremely proud to have authored the MSIR. It has been a pleasure working with the Beacon Wind team since April 2021, and we look forward to continuing our working relationship.”
